The Story

Kenny Wang is an actor, singer, and dancer. He recently played God in Memoriam: After Euripides’ Alcestis by Stephen Kaliski at the 2016 New York International Fringe Festival. While pursuing his MFA at LIU Post with a class of eight men and two women, he played Desdemona in Othello and Yelena Andreyevna in Uncle Vanya. Regionally, he has worked with Berkeley Playhouse on Mary Poppins and Shrek the Musical (Wolf).

Kenny received his MFA in Acting from LIU Post. Highlights of his training include the Suzuki Method with Maria Porter and stage combat with Alicia Rodis (Recommended Pass in Unarmed by the SAFD). He has also studied Shakespeare, singing, film, ballet, and Le Coq. Kenny holds a BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from UC Berkeley, where he was awarded the Mask and Dagger Memorial Prize for Extraordinary Contributions. There, he was trained by teachers such as Lura Dolas and Francine Landes (Feldenkrais and acting).

In addition to acting, Kenny has enjoyed creating theatre. He originated the role of Erik Vickers in a new musical Death, and Other Hobbies written by Weston Scott. He has devised two works: Hello, My Name Is at LIU Post and Club Adonis at Queen Mary, University of London. He was a company member of BareTroupe with BareStage Productions, where he choreographed show-stopping numbers like “Good Mornin’” from Singin’ in the Rain and “Show People” from Curtains.

Kenny is a teaching artist. At LIU Post, he was a teaching assistant for the Suzuki method of acting (first year BFA acting and musical theatre). Through his work with Missoula Children's Theatre, he has taught performance workshops in acting and improvisation. He has shared music and theatre with kindergarteners through the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. Kenny may be a Californian at heart, but he adores traveling after living in Malaysia and England for extensive periods.
